RDNS Reflections wins an FWA Award!
Wow… Lava received a particular high accolade this week, being judged for the Site of the Day Award by the FWA. Whilst this is only for one single day, to put this in context, consider the following. Favourite Website Awards (FWA) was established in May 2000, to recognise the latest and best cutting edge creativity. FWA was named the number 1 web award in the world, beating the likes of YouTube and the Webbys, in the Chicago Tribune's first World Wide Web Awards Award 2007, in which they "consider the scores of sites vying to become to Internet excellence what Oscar is to film excellence." FWA is the most visited website award program in the history of the internet, with over 100 million site visits as of August 2010 and an estimated additional 45 million per year. Lava has long aspired to win an FWA Award, so this is a huge landmark in our history, especially on top of the recent CREATE 2011 and AIMIA Awards!

Nike - Catch The Flash
Nike Running got together with ad agency Jung von Matt/Neckar to create a high-tech treasure hunt in the nighttime streets of Vienna. Dubbed “Catch the Flash,” the 90-minute game had participants chasing 50 runners — all wearing the Nike Vapor Flash Jacket — through dark streets and back alleys in order to capture a photograph of the individual runners. The flash would illuminate the reflective material on the jacket and reveal the printed number on the back, which meant the chaser had “caught” that particular runner. All 50 runners were equipped with iPhones running a GPS app so they could be tracked online (which also allowed users to play the game on a virtual map of Vienna using their computer or mobile device). Check out a video recap after the click.

Offline Systems Integration
It’d be fair to say most people that shop online have experienced when buying an item, only to be told later by the online store that it’s in fact sold out. There’s also a flip side, for the business selling the goods and managing warehouse stock.
Whilst many firms have had this task on their long term to do list, at Lava we believe 2012 represents an ideal (and necessary) time to truly embrace integrating our e-commerce websites with offline systems for stock management and accounting. We have done this for our clients www.elkaccessories.com.au and www.keepcup.com to great effect. Their warehouse stock (items, details, and quantities) now directly synch up with their public and trade website interfaces. Likewise, when an order is placed these details synch down to their offline warehousing software, which then handles fulfillment, identifies the need for reorders, and recording all of these details into accounting systems.
Lava has a lot of experience working with these offline systems, so have a chat to us about what’s possible. We can help you with planning and implementation.
