KeepCup Refresh
We’re delighted to announce that one of Lava’s most popular e-commerce sites www.keepcup.com has just had a major refresh. The site has huge traffic both in Australia, but also worldwide, and the 3D interactive Design Your KeepCup feature has proved to be particularly popular and effective. The refresh involves; a visual re-skin in line with KeepCup’s recently revised & extended branding.
There are also more bells and whistles in terms of functionality. The site now features a Gift Voucher system, more dynamic content including Blogs and Twitter on the Homepage, automated IP country detection, and initial work to prepare for a fully multilingual version of the site later in 2012. KeepCup is now working with Lava’s SEO affiliate www.shoutwebstrategy.com.au, and Lava has further new developments underway including a m(obile)-commerce site!

National Water Commission - Wet Rocks Flash Games
Lava, in conjunction with the Swinburne Uni Design Centre, has created 3 Flash games called Wet Rocks. These are pitched at Year 7 to 9 students, educating them on the use of ground water.
Swinburne created a visual style based loosely on an island theme, using pastel colours, cartoon characters, buildings and landscapes. Three games were created, each representing aspects of the key messages. Lava’s role was to refine the game concepts and visuals, then handle all tech implementation and music composition. A key was to ensure we got the balance right in terms of game difficulty. Getting the audio right was another key factor. We collaborated with our pro musician Nick Thayer to create a completely custom soundtrack. We referenced games like Halfbrick’s Raskulls and Banjo-Kazooie, in line with the cartoon island visual style and theme. One main track was created then remixed heavily to ensure each game is distinct. Visit Wet Rocks!

Toowoomba Grammar School Launches!
We're delighted to announce the launch of the new Toowoomba Grammar School website. Lava won the project on competitive tender, and worked closely with Peter Hauser (Headmaster) and his terrific team to achieve this new website, along with a 3G 'lite' mobile version, a CMS and e-News system. Lava really appreciated the faith the school placed in appointing an interstate firm, and we found the school to be a terrific collaborator. We than them for all their efforts, and great hospitality. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Lava May e-Newsletter & our Portfolio for a full project write up.

iPads for Learning Launches
Lava recently completed and launched a site called iPads for Learning. Developed in conjunction with the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the site has a very unique specification... it's optimised specifically for the Apple iPad! Whilst most websites do work on the iPad, at this point in time very few have been built to it's exact screen dimensions, and to take advantage of its touch-screen user functionality. So, Lava has built the site to really showcase the possibilities of the iPad, such as swipe finger functionality, and drop and drag for the multimedia gallery. The project has been a huge success, with high visitor numbers and a world-wide audience. For users that do not have iPads, Lava also built Desktop and Mobile (phone) versions.
