Quality Hospitality - RSA
Quality Hospitality International wanted to create a set of e-learning products for Australian accredited short courses. To make this a reality, Lava was commissioned to develop e-learning products, and a promotional website to help sell the products and give exposure to corporate sponsors.
The Brief
Quality Hospitality International came to Lava with a fascinating project. They wanted to create a set of e-learning products for British back packers coming to Australia. The tools will enable this audience to complete Australian accredited short courses, prior to the trip, helping them to work in hospitality environments and funding their ongoing travel. To make this a reality, Lava was commissioned to develop e-learning products, and a promotional website to help sell the products and give exposure to corporate sponsors.
Lava's Solution
Responsible Service of Alcohol from the Australian National Training Package for Hospitality was selected as the first course for development. Lava worked hand-in-hand with the client to plan the course structure and this was reflected with sections on the main menu. We also gave the client a lot of guidance with authoring the course content in an appropriate format. This included writing in a style suited to on screen presentation (simple and minimal), and 'dreaming up' visual supporting components including photos, diagrams and interaction.
One of the greatest challenges was to develop a product that was generic to all of Australia, whilst still catering for the unique liquor laws/ regulations specific to each State/ Territory. This was achieved by providing an interactive map, which can be view on rollover. We also included a notepad feature, whereby users can enter, record and save entries.
Lava's creative team wanted a fresh and funky looking product, suited to a typically young target audience. The client requested a 'very Australian' colour scheme. We are very proud of the end result, which was achieved using some fantastic stock photography, combined with rich 'earthy' colours and intuitive, self evident, navigation including icons and title tabs. It is coded using standard techniques (HTML, CSS, etc.), ensuring accessibility and speed.
A promotional website was established, to showcase the business and its e-learning product suit to prospective clients. We used a simple payment method, enabling users to place orders online using a secure credit card facility, followed by an online enrolment process. Sponsor banner ads were applied giving great exposure to allies such as Tourism Australia.
