The Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) project showcases Lava's ability to deliver large scale, content rich, and fully integrated online solutions. DHSV wanted to fundamentally move many of its activities to an online format. Key deliverables included: a public website, e-news, staff intranet, an extranet, and an online consumer enquiry management tool.
The Brief
The Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) project showcases Lava’s ability to deliver large scale, content rich, and fully integrated online solutions. DHSV wanted to fundamentally move many of its activities to an online format.
Key deliverables included: a public website, e-news, staff intranet, an extranet, and an online consumer enquiry management tool. A high level of integration was required across each, and managed via a single, centralised CMS.
This new online setup was to form an essential aspect of DHSV’s future public communications, as well as an invaluable and rigorously used set of systems to assist their staff with day-to-day communication and management activities.
Lava’s Solution
Lava’s custom-built CMS is truly the masterstroke behind the success of this project. The CMS provides DHSV with different login access levels, so its staff can be assigned to different aspects of the system (e.g. extranet, intranet, etc.). Some highlights of the CMS content-publishing capabilities include the ability to; self-generate forms (inc. online polls), create wiki’s, and multimedia galleries. DHSV can even combine different types of content in a single section (e.g. WYSIWYG with a wiki).
Lava’s visual design for the public site is clean, clinical and fresh, in line with the image of dental health. DHSV’s corporate colours were used, consisting of navy blue, turquoise and yellow. Photo shoots were arranged by DHSV, with Lava then cherry-picking the best shots to be incorporated in the design.
A key aspect of this project was Lava’s ability to streamline an enormous amount of content and functions into a simple and user-friendly format for the end users. For example, the public site www.dhsv.org.au has a vast amount of sections and content within, yet is simple to navigate and gives priority to items of greatest interest.
DHSV proved to be a terrific collaborator with Lava, and we thank them greatly for their assistance and also ambition in putting together such a terrific system.
