Shane Warne came to Lava looking for a new site that would match his public profile as a legendary cricketer, and serve as a central place for fans to hear his views on current hot issues, and share his experiences such as playing in IPL.
The Brief
Shane Warne came to Lava looking for a new site that would match his public profile as a legendary cricketer, and serve as a central place for fans to hear his views on current hot issues, and share his experiences such as playing in IPL.
Shane wanted the site to present a slick, cool and polished visual style, in line with other top sporting stars such as David Beckham and LeBron James. Lava suggested the site should also reflect Shane’s personable and fun personality, his genuine love of cricket, and passion for evolving the game worldwide.
Lava received a terrific project brief, with plenty of ‘bells and whistles’ including; a Multimedia Gallery, a Blog, Interactive Events Calendar, Membership Database System, an Online Shop with integrated secure payment, and Online Advertising. The Lava CMS was also required, to centralise the administration of the site.
Lava’s Solution
A key to Lava’s rollout was to achieve maximum visual impact using carefully selected full-screen photographs as backgrounds of each main section. These images range from Shane’s cricketing career to various off-the-field experiences. Shane’s vibrant personality and sense of humour shines through frequently.
An intuitive menu structure was used, giving priority to certain sections such as major sponsor 888. The homepage is focused on dynamic information such as current News and Blog items, including video blogs by Shane on conclusion of each IPL match, and Shane’s integrated Twitter feed. The multimedia Gallery is used extensively, to house Shane’s archive of photos, video and audio media. A member database system enables users to subscribe, and access exclusive content which can be set by Shane Warne’s administrators, via the site CMS.
We also provided an integrated e-Commerce Shop, where users will be able to select products, add them to their shopping cart and pay securely online. This aspect of the site will go live shortly, with the orders managed via the CMS.
Lava has had terrific feedback on the site and thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration with both Shane and Jason Warne, and their team. We were thrilled to learn we won the project on a very competitive tender, and everyone played integral roles to make the process so enjoyable and the project such a success.
