The Brief

Quadrant Executive came to Lava seeking a new corporate identify and website. A key aspect of the brief was to clearly reflect Quadrant’s positioning as a top-end, specialist provider in executive level recruitment. The client wanted their new brand to evoke the feel of a luxury car, like an Audi S5.

Unlike many human resource or recruitment websites, Quadrant was after a simpler, more concise and confident message to its audience. The site map was intentionally kept to a minimum, with just the essential aspects of Quadrant’s services presented, and use of visual elements wherever possible.

Lava’s Solution

The new Quadrant branding uses the ‘Q’ as a focal point, and is designed to be simple and powerful. The bright blue dash stands out in a predominantly black/charcoal background. These colours are carried throughout the web templates, with a cropped skyscraper photo background to add texture and design interest.

A key aspect of the Quadrant website design is the photography. Lava believed that using stock images would make the site look generic and commonplace. Instead, we wanted to visually showcase Quadrant's real word success via ‘environmental portraits’ of people they have placed in high profile positions. For example, the General Manager of Queensland Rail Retail is set in the rail yard with a train in the background. Likewise, the Director of HR for SBS is in a TV studio with a camera. A brief was established, and executed by top-end photographer, and regular Lava collaborator Travis de Clifford. As you will see, the resulting photos are a beautiful feature on the site’s Homepage, providing users with a terrific first impression.

The site content was kept short and concise. A highlight is the Flash-driven interactive diagram of Quadrant’s solutions model demonstrating various aspects of their service. Lava took a highly visual approach using animation and interactivity so as to make the content more engaging than written text paragraphs. The Blog is another key aspect of the website. It gives Quadrant a place to include detailed case studies of recent placements, but also to provide opinion pieces where they can demonstrate their skill, knowledge and experience as an authority in executive level recruitment.

The Lava CMS was provided, enabling Quadrant to self-edit the site content, along with the Lava e-News Builder so they can compose e-news bulletins.

Hi Guys,

Thank you very much for all your help and assistance through 2010. The website is fantastic! We continue to get many people commenting on it and the business cards.

I am a very ‘happy camper’!
