The Brief

BHT Partners came to Lava wanting a full revamp of their public website, including content management capabilities so they can maintain the site content in-house. An HTML e-news system was also required, so BHT can keep their network of clients and business contacts up to date on latest news and event details. Aesthetically, BHT wanted the new site to present a highly professional service, balanced with a vibrant and slightly funky look and feel. Lava also re-worked the BHT branding, which was 30 years old and needed modernizing.

Lava's Solution

Step 1 in development was to re-work the BHT logo. This was achieved through selecting a much more modern typeface, which we feel presents the BHT name as elegant and crisp.

For the website, a fairly conventional site map and menu was created, with key sections introduced through a custom Homepage (About BHT, Our Services and News & Events). The colour scheme draws on the branding, using harmonious blue hues, combined with complimentary yellow which creates contrast in the pallet. Professional stock photography is used throughout, and we feel these really help bring the site to life and give it a high level of polish and professionalism. Lava assisted BHT with sourcing appropriate stock photography.

The website presents background information to new users, and acts as an information source and repository for existing clients. For example, key dates and a newsletter archive. We then rolled out the Lava e-News Builder product. A subscription facility was included on the public site (front-end), with subscriptions integrated with a recipient database (back-end). BHT can use this tool to compose HTML newsletters on a professionally designed template, which fits with the aesthetic of the public website, and disseminate newsletters as a batch process.
